Turbulence Starts at the Terminal: Why DFW Is the Most Stressful Airport

According to a recent study cited by The Dallas Express, Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has been officially crowned the most stressful major airport in the United States by writers on X (formerly Twitter). Flights delayed nearly 27% of the time, cancellations hover around 2%, TSA lines can stretch over 35 minutes, and even lost luggage adds its own special kind of chaos .
What Makes DFW Airport So Stressful?
Size matters – DFW sprawls across 26 square miles with sprawling terminals. That’s a lot of footsteps before you hit your gate.
High traffic = more delays – It’s one of the busiest airports in the world, meaning congestion is practically part of the décor.
TSA stands strong – Long security lines are the norm, not the exception.
Too many connections – It’s a major hub—perfect if you’re connecting, less perfect if you're stuck waiting unexpectedly.
Why Airports Stress Us Out (And What Drains Me Most)
We all love the excitement of travel, but let’s be honest—airports can test our zen. Here’s what really grinds my gears:
Security queues that never quit. You’re halfway through your water bottle inspection when you realize your TSA PreCheck trial expired—and so did your patience.
Those endless tram rides. You land, board the shuttle, get off, turn right, then left... only to realize your gate’s back on the first ride.
Unpredictable announcements. A friendly pager voice: “Flight ABC is now boarding.” Two minutes later: “Just kidding—delayed.” Glad they kept it light?
Lost or delayed luggage. You land, pick up your bag, and... gasp, it’s not yours—or worse, it’s missing.
Your Turn!
