Trip Rewind: Tuscany 2019: Sunshine, Cheese & Something Like Family

Sometimes a place wraps around your heart and whispers, “Stay a while.”That’s what Tuscany did to our Travel Tribe in 2019.

Rolling green hills, winding country roads, olive groves, vineyards, and villages that feel like they’ve been lifted from a painting—Tuscany was every dream of Italy come to life. But what made it truly unforgettable wasn’t just the views. It was the people. The laughter. The long lunches. The shared moments that turned travelers into friends—and friends into something like family.

Our final day in Italy was one for the books.

We began out in the Tuscany countryside, with a visit to a cheese farm tucked among the hills. It was a peaceful, pastoral dream—sunny skies, crisp air, and sweeping views in every direction. We learned about their organic, sustainable methods, saw how they cared for the land and animals, and of course, we tasted everything. Pecorino has never tasted better than when eaten within sight of the sheep who made it possible.

From there, we wound our way to the storybook town of San Gimignano—a tiny hilltop village surrounded by medieval walls and stone towers. The cobblestone streets led us to a very important stop: the world’s best gelato. No really, they have banners to prove it. (And once we tried it, we didn’t need convincing.) There’s something magical about eating gelato in the warm afternoon sun, surrounded by centuries-old buildings and postcard views of the valley below.

As the sun began to set, we gathered for our final dinner—another hilltop view, another round of wine, laughter, and shared stories. This wasn’t just the end of a trip. It was a celebration of everything we’d seen, tasted, felt, and learned. Of strangers becoming friends. Of unforgettable meals, unexpected moments, and deep belly laughs.

The Italians have a saying: “La famiglia non è solo di sangue.”Family isn’t just by blood.

And that’s exactly what we felt that night—under the Tuscan sky, toasting the end of a beautiful adventure.
