Your Shoe Choice Could Be Slowing You Down at TSA - Here's What You Need To Know!

You may have heard the good news: TSA has changed its policy, and most travelers no longer have to remove their shoes at airport security. That's one less hassle, one less thing to juggle at the checkpoint, and one more reason flying is becoming a little more traveler-friendly.

But before you head to the airport, there's one important detail to know...

The type of shoes you wear can still make a difference.

According to TSA guidance, shoes with large metal buckles or decorative hardware, high heels with metal support rods, vintage shoes with metal shanks, some orthopedic shoes or inserts containing metal, or even Crocs with jibbitz may still trigger additional screening. In other words, you may get to keep your shoes on—but they could still earn you a little extra attention from TSA. So Dorothy's Ruby Red Slippers, in the picture above, would have been a NO-GO!

(And yes, Certain Cowboy Boots and even steel-toe work boots can also set off the alarms!)

Our Lindsey Adventures Tip

When in doubt, wear comfortable walking/running shoes that are lightweight, supportive, and low on metal. They're easier on your feet during long sightseeing days and more likely to help you breeze through airport security.

It's a small detail, but sometimes the smallest travel tips make the biggest difference.

Safe travels... and here's hoping your next airport experience is just a little smoother.

After all, the goal isn't just to get through TSA faster.

It's to start your adventure with one less hassle.
