Italy in Full Color: A Lindsey Adventures Journey Worth Reliving

Updated: Nov 26

There’s a moment on every Lindsey Adventures trip when you look around and think, “This… this is why we travel together.”

Italy gave us dozens of those moments.

Our adventure began in Florence, a city that feels like a watercolor brought to life. Henry James once wrote that Florence appears “colored with a mild violet, like diluted wine”—and it’s true. Mornings there feel soft and dreamlike, as if the city hasn’t fully woken up yet. We wandered through narrow streets, crossed quiet bridges over the Arno, and stood in the shadow of the Medici legacy. Some of us climbed the Duomo for a view that steals your breath; others found magic in Riccardo Luci’s marbling workshop or in the simple joy of peach gelato at dusk.

Florence has a way of wrapping itself around you—its art, its history, its pace of life—and by the time we boarded the high-speed train to Rome, we carried a little bit of Florence with us.

Rome, of course, greeted us with her whole heart. The Eternal City doesn’t whisper; she sings. Everywhere you turn there’s a masterpiece—Bernini fountains, ancient columns, sunlit piazzas, and architecture that feels like it’s still alive. We explored St. Peter’s, wandered the Pantheon, stood inside the Colosseum, and walked the same parade route Caesar once traveled. At sunrise, a few of us stood almost alone at the Trevi Fountain with only the sound of splashing water and the promise of a new day.

Evenings in Rome brought their own flavor—Michelin-star dishes for some, pasta-and-tiramisu classes for others, and one unforgettable progressive dinner through Testaccio where we tasted oils, twirled pasta, and learned how to spot truly authentic gelato. If joy has a taste, Rome served it generously.

From Rome, our journey slowed into something softer — the kind of beauty you don’t rush. The Amalfi Coast felt like stepping into a dream painted in blues and golds. Terraced lemon groves, cliffside villages, sun-warmed stone, and evenings that glowed with that unmistakable Italian warmth. This coastline is made for lingering: a long lunch overlooking the water, a stroll through Positano, shared stories on balconies where the sea seems close enough to touch.

And then came Capri — the island of sunshine, stories, and views that make you forget every other view you’ve ever seen. We wandered its blooming pathways, stood above the Faraglioni rocks, admired the hotel built around its famous tree, and ended our adventure on the water, gliding into grottos and circling the island as the sun dipped low. Our now-traditional singalong echoed over the waves, a fitting finale to a trip defined by connection and joy.

Italy gave us food that nourished, history that humbled, scenery that stunned, and moments that reminded us just how beautiful travel can be when you’re surrounded by people who feel like family.

And that’s what we hope you feel as you scroll through this gallery—not just the beauty of Italy, but the warmth of traveling together.

Because with Lindsey Adventures…

On the bus, you’re one of us.
